Simple and elegant, this late Edwardian five-stone diamond ring dates to approximately 1915–1925, with early Art Deco influence. Crafted with a solid 18K yellow gold shank and a platinum diamond-set head, the ring features five graduated natural Old European Cut diamonds arranged in a clean, symmetrical row.

The center diamond is flanked by four progressively smaller diamonds. Together, the five stones are estimated at approximately 0.15 carat total weight. Their higher crowns, small tables, softly rounded outlines, and broad antique faceting are consistent with Old European cutting, although the culets become difficult to see in the smallest stones.

The ring’s appeal lies in its balanced simplicity. Its graduated arrangement, low profile, and restrained geometry reflect the transition from Edwardian elegance toward the cleaner symmetry associated with early Art Deco jewelry. Petite and easy to wear, it works beautifully as an understated engagement ring, anniversary ring, stacking ring, or antique diamond band.

The Diamonds

The ring is set with five graduated natural Old European Cut diamonds arranged in a balanced horizontal row. The center stone displays the clearest Old European Cut characteristics, including a higher crown, small table, broad facet pattern, softly rounded outline, and visible culet. The smaller diamonds show the same higher crowns, small tables, and antique facet style, although their culets are difficult to see because of their petite size.

Together, the five diamonds are estimated at approximately 0.15 carat total weight. They are appropriate to the scale and age of the ring and create a cohesive antique appearance. No formal laboratory color or clarity grades have been assigned.

The Design

The five diamonds graduate evenly from the center toward the outer edges in a nearly straight horizontal row. This restrained symmetry gives the ring a clean, balanced appearance without the sharply angular geometry associated with later Art Deco jewelry.

The platinum head provides a naturally white setting around the diamonds, while the solid 18K yellow gold shank adds warmth and contrast. Viewed from the side, the individually formed settings create a lightly raised open gallery beneath the stones. Its low profile is practical and comfortable for regular wear.

The design is simple and unembellished, relying on its graduated diamonds, mixed-metal construction, and authentic antique character for its appeal.

Condition

Well preserved for an antique ring dating to approximately 1915–1925, this piece remains in good antique condition. The 18K yellow gold shank retains an even profile, and the platinum head preserves its original graduated five-stone form.

Light surface scratches, minor abrasions, and gentle signs of age may be visible under magnification, consistent with previous wear. The diamonds may display natural inclusions, slight irregularities, and variations in facet pattern characteristic of antique hand cutting. The interior “18” and “PLAT” hallmarks remain visible.

Photography Note

Photographed under soft-spectrum lighting and high magnification to document the antique diamonds, hallmarks, mixed-metal construction, surface condition, and period details. Enlarged images may reveal gemstone characteristics and signs of age more readily than they are visible during normal viewing.

Condition and Expectations

Many pieces in the TERA Collection are a century old or more. They have been worn, cherished, gifted, celebrated, and carried through generations before arriving here. Gentle wear, subtle signs of age, and the occasional evidence of historic stewardship should be expected and are considered part of the character that makes antique jewelry impossible to replicate.

Our photography is intentionally detailed and often captured at extreme magnification. In many cases, the images reveal details, textures, and tiny imperfections that are difficult or impossible to see during normal wear. This approach reflects our commitment to documenting each piece as completely as possible, ensuring that its condition, craftsmanship, and character are faithfully represented.

The result is simple: when your piece arrives, there should be no surprises. What you see is an authentic record of a jewel's present condition, preserving both its beauty and the story written into it over time.

If a condition issue exceeds what would normally be expected from a piece of its age, it will always be specifically disclosed within the listing.

Because every collector values different details, we are always happy to provide additional photographs, videos, measurements, or condition documentation whenever possible. If there is a particular aspect of a piece you would like to examine more closely, please don't hesitate to ask.

Our hope is simple: that the piece you receive is exactly the piece you expected to receive. We would always rather answer one more question than leave a doubt unanswered.
