Distinctive, romantic, and beautifully unconventional, this vintage palladium emerald and diamond ring dates to approximately the 1940s. Crafted in palladium and clearly stamped “PALLADIUM,” the ring centers on a pear-shaped natural emerald surrounded by twenty natural diamond accents arranged within an elaborate foliate design.

Measuring approximately 18.3 × 12 mm across the face, the ring has excellent finger presence despite its relatively light 3.31-gram construction. Sculpted leaves, pierced details, and diamonds of varying sizes surround the emerald, creating an organic composition.

The emerald is especially appealing for its soft green color and natural character. Visible inclusions give the stone depth, while its elongated pear shape forms the focal point. At normal viewing distance, the emerald faces up beautifully against the cool white palladium and surrounding diamonds.

Rather than relying on strict symmetry, this ring derives its beauty from texture, color, craftsmanship, and composition. It is a distinctive surviving example of Retro-era palladium jewelry that remains highly wearable today.

The Emerald

The elongated pear-shaped emerald measures approximately 8.43 × 5.0 mm within the bezel. Its soft green color contrasts beautifully with the cool white palladium and bright diamond accents.

The emerald displays numerous internal characteristics visible under magnification that are consistent with natural emerald, and gemological testing is also consistent with emerald.

The stone shows surface scratches, abrasions, and areas of minor chipping under magnification. These characteristics are far more apparent in enlarged photography than during normal viewing. On the hand, the emerald remains attractive and presents with a pleasing soft green appearance.

The Design

The 18.3 × 12 mm head creates substantial visual presence. Sculpted leaves, pierced openings, varying diamond sizes, and the elongated pear-shaped emerald give the ring the organic, naturalistic character associated with the Retro era.

Twenty diamonds are distributed throughout the design, with six larger stones measuring approximately 2 mm and fourteen smaller accents measuring slightly under 1 mm. Their varied placement adds texture and sparkle without competing with the emerald.

The reverse reveals a pierced structure beneath the head, while the shoulders sweep upward to support the setting. Despite its generous visual scale, the ring weighs only 3.31 grams and remains comfortable on the hand.

Condition

The ring remains in attractive and wearable vintage condition with age-related wear consistent with decades of use. The palladium mounting shows surface scratches and minor abrasions visible under magnification.

The emerald displays natural inclusions along with surface abrasions, scratches, and small areas of edge wear or chipping. These characteristics are intentionally shown in the enlarged photographs. At normal viewing distance, the stone presents considerably better than the magnified images suggest.

Photography Note

Photographed under high magnification and varied lighting to document the emerald, diamonds, palladium construction, hallmark, and present condition. Enlarged photography makes inclusions, scratches, abrasions, and gemstone wear more apparent than during normal viewing.

Condition and Expectations

Many pieces in the TERA Collection are a century old or more. They have been worn, cherished, gifted, celebrated, and carried through generations before arriving here. Gentle wear, subtle signs of age, and the occasional evidence of historic stewardship should be expected and are considered part of the character that makes antique jewelry impossible to replicate.

Our photography is intentionally detailed and often captured at extreme magnification. In many cases, the images reveal details, textures, and tiny imperfections that are difficult or impossible to see during normal wear. This approach reflects our commitment to documenting each piece as completely as possible, ensuring that its condition, craftsmanship, and character are faithfully represented.

The result is simple: when your piece arrives, there should be no surprises. What you see is an authentic record of a jewel's present condition, preserving both its beauty and the story written into it over time.

If a condition issue exceeds what would normally be expected from a piece of its age, it will always be specifically disclosed within the listing.

Because every collector values different details, we are always happy to provide additional photographs, videos, measurements, or condition documentation whenever possible. If there is a particular aspect of a piece you would like to examine more closely, please don't hesitate to ask.

Our hope is simple: that the piece you receive is exactly the piece you expected to receive. We would always rather answer one more question than leave a doubt unanswered.
