The Edwardian era marked a transition toward lighter, more intricate ring construction. The increasing use of platinum allowed skilled master jewelers to create delicate openwork, finely pierced galleries, milgrain borders, and lace-like settings that would have been impossible in heavier metals. Diamonds were central during the period, often set alongside sapphires, emeralds, rubies, and natural pearls in beautifully balanced designs.
Design movements did not begin and end on exact calendar dates. Many surviving rings combine characteristics of neighboring eras. For that reason, this collection also features carefully selected Victorian-to-Edwardian and Edwardian-to-Art Deco transitional rings whose construction and aesthetic demonstrate clear Edwardian influence.
