At its center, a vivid round emerald sits within an intricately worked square of warm 14K yellow gold. Scrolling openwork, engraved details, and sculpted shoulders carry the design outward from the center, creating a setting that feels both architectural and ornamental.
Look closer and the geometry begins to emerge. The square center gives way to symmetrical scrolls and open spaces before narrowing gracefully into the shank. Its rich green color immediately draws the eye against the warmth of the surrounding yellow gold. As the ring moves through the light, the stone shifts between deeper green and brighter, more vivid tones, giving the center a wonderful sense of depth and color.
Under magnification, internal characteristics are visible within the emerald. Testing is consistent with emerald, and based upon our examination, we suspect the stone is of natural origin. Because it has not been submitted to a gemological laboratory, however, we cannot confirm natural origin.
The emerald is unquestionably the visual center of the ring. Everything around it—the square frame, contrasting metal details, scrolling goldwork, and architectural shoulders—leads the eye back toward that saturated point of green.
The setting is where the character of this ring truly emerges.
The emerald sits within a stepped, almost square composition measuring approximately 7.9 × 7.9 mm. Small diamond accents set within contrasting white-metal panels flank the center, while scrolling openwork and engraved details carry the design outward into the shoulders.
Viewed from the side, the openwork creates additional depth and dimension while keeping the setting remarkably low on the finger. The combination of strong geometry, scrolling forms, engraving, and contrasting metal gives the ring its distinctive Late Art Deco character.
Consistent with its age, portions of the decorative goldwork show minor irregularity and age-related distortion, visible under close inspection and in our magnified photography. The overall architecture remains beautifully intact.
This is a very wearable vintage ring. Its low-profile setting rises approximately 4.45 mm above the finger, keeping the emerald close to the hand and making the ring comfortable for regular wear.
The emerald is surrounded by the setting rather than sitting high above the finger, and the shoulders transition smoothly into the shank. As with any vintage gemstone ring, reasonable care is recommended during activities that could expose the emerald or setting to hard knocks or abrasion.
